Free Hugs “Juan mann One Love”

Something is wrong in America and it’s technology’s fault: neighbors don’t talk any more, kids aren’t playing outside, and no one sits face to face to talk. What is going on in this country? When was the last time you met a stranger and had a conversion beyond “hi” and “bye?” What happened to those days when you sent a letter to a friend who lived in the same city?

Bakersfield and Web Design

Friday, October 12th, 2007 by Kai Khoy

We have always done our marketing from Los Angeles to San Diego and had always thought of it as our home turf. However, this new venture into central California, specifically Bakersfield, has been a broadening experience because we never thought that our web services could benefit this place. Boy, were we wrong. But first you have to understand why at first glance Bakersfield seemed such an unlikely city. The name Bakersfield in itself evokes farm land, cows, and more farm land. From the freeway, it’s difficult to imagine that business outside of agriculture and oil is possible.

So, what is a web firm like ours that focuses on web design, web hosting, and search engine marketing, doing here anyway? Well, after a few months of testing the market and researching our competitors I think we’ve found our niche in Bakersfield. We’ve discovered that our web services are greatly needed and in much demand. Our motto is to keep the human in technology, which means that being in Bakersfield is our way of putting a human face on our web firm because technology often ignores the human element. Plus, what I like most about coming to Bakersfield is that we bring something fresh and unique to the table when compared to the other web design companies in town. For my next post I’ll go into more detail about what sets Jupiter Labs apart and our methodologies.

Aspects of Business

After much thought and many cups of coffee, I came to the conclusion that a person’s worth is measured by success. This caused me to ask myself the following question: is success getting everything I want or is it being happy with the things I have? This question came to me as I thought about my career and recent difficulty in finding new clients and new business. I could talk about many aspects of business, but for my first blog I want to discuss our company relationship with the client. Hopefully by the end of this entry I’ll have an answer to my question.

So what does a Jupiter Labs business relationship look like? It’s not your typical one where the client just gives the orders and the company fulfills them. This is boring because the relationship moves from point A to point B without any interesting stops along the way. Now, if the client became sort of like a partner things would get exciting. Add to that a whole team of people to work specifically with the client and magic happens. Of course, this could just be my normal “out there” perspective to explain the bonding that occurs between our company and the partner.

Once the company assigns a team of people to our accounts, we’re able to provide a higher level of commitment and accountability to our partners. Such a method allows us to provide the following: quality work combined with personal attention to detail and a complete focus on the client’s needs. By putting our brains together and sharing ideas with each other, we’re giving our partners the best that we can offer. Ultimately, our partner has access to each of the team members and develops a unique relationship with our company because the members are willing to expend the necessary effort to give the client what he wants.

I’ve observed and experienced the general business relationship countless times, and I’ve been on both ends of it. Frankly, I’m fascinated by this idea of having a client as a partner, especially when it deals with something so abstract as technology. It’s funny that our company becomes more personable in order to become a more successful business. And why not? Our client/partner is the cornerstone of our company. So all in all, when I say assigning a team of people to our accounts is a great idea I also include our partner/client as part of the team of Jupiter Labs. So now back to my question regarding success. My answer to that is success includes both receiving everything I want and being happy with what I already have. This means that I’m happy with the team I’m a part of, but I sure would love to bring on our partners to see what else we can accomplish together.
