Installing RMagick on Leopard

Friday, June 13th, 2008 by Marc Uhlig

Installing RMagick on Leopard is quite a painful process, well, the gem is not the problem, the dependencies are, but lucky me I came across Solomon White’s post.

I don’t like Fink or Ports very much, so Solomon’s little script saved me a lot of time and headache, thanks for that!

It looks like some hosts are not up all the time, if you run into problems just google for the files and download them into your folder, then continue to run the script below.

Leopard or Vista, some valuable thoughts, finally…

Monday, November 5th, 2007 by Marc Uhlig

I think it was a couple of weeks ago when I complained about these lame OS wars on digg. Well, my voice wasn’t heard and the wars are still going on but there are also some good articles out there comparing Vista with Leopard: Why Leopard Isn’t Better than Vista and Why Leopard Is Better than Vista for example

Well, I still think generally spoken there is no better OS, for some users Microsoft is the way to go, for others it will be Linux or Mac.

It has been said before, personally I don’t like Microsoft systems, one of the reasons is that I can not live without having a powerful UNIX shell at my disposal… but that’s just me…

The Leopard-Vista Wars – How they dugg me down

Sunday, October 28th, 2007 by Marc Uhlig

Yesterday I found a post about Engadget comparing Vista with Leopard on digg, of course I had to write a comment…

The operating system war – what is wrong with these people? Why does the same old story get so many diggs over and over again? So in my comment I dared to express my astonishment about this, of course I got dugg down…

One guy actually got it right though, sites like Engadget post such stupid things for the sole reason of getting more traffic from digg, they have figured it out I guess, one response to my comment was like “You are right, but if you don’t want to read this, don’t read it” – yeah, I got it, next time I will try to keep my mouth shut, it doesn’t make sense anyways… Go on and fight over your operating systems you fanboys…
